Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA), part of the country’s Defense Ministry, will include AI startup EdgeCortix in its booth at the Singapore Airshow. The elite group of exhibitors will include AI startup EdgeCortix, which specializes in energy-efficient AI processing.
EdgeCortix will showcase its flagship product, the SAKURA-I chip, which is a dedicated co-processor that delivers high compute efficiency and low latency for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads carried out “at the edge,” where the data is collected and mission-critical decisions need to be made. The chip provides significantly better energy efficiency and processing speed compared to conventional semiconductors such as GPUs and CPUs, while also reducing operating costs for end users.
Civilian transportation, aviation, and the defense and aerospace sectors are increasingly looking to AI solutions to enhance safety, security, and stability. Critical AI operations in these sectors require processing power at the edge, where data is collected and quick decisions need to be made. EdgeCortix’s SAKURA-I chip offers high efficiency and small form factor, making it well-suited for edge computing in these sectors.
